DIY LED: many come to Wutel for this, but then pleasantly "get lost" in what over the years has become a small multi-thematic portal with practical suggestions. Sui DIY LED, but not only: there are many precious ideas for those who want to improve their lifestyle, starting with energy management. There you will find concrete information, available free of charge and within everyone's reach, not just do-it-yourself magicians, whatever they are DIY LED or "other" do it yourself.
Riccardo Comino let us be enlightened by "his" DIY LED.
1) When and why did you create your renewable energy and environment group?
In the first months of 2006, with the idea of being able to spread good daily bio-eco practices, thanks to the internet, videos and information sheets dedicated above all to the practical implementation, within everyone's reach, of projects on energy saving, self-production of electricity from clean and renewable sources, lamps DIY LED, ecology and sustainable mobility.
2) What are your main activities? Are DIY LEDs part of it?
We organize informative evenings and workshops for DIY LED and much more, both informative, didactic and creative workshops with families, G.A.S. groups, associations, municipal administrations and schools that request them. The activist members then manage the web communication. We are an informal volunteer group: participation is free and open to all, without obligation. Anyone who wishes to participate becomes a precious and special resource for us.
3) Let's talk about DIY LEDs: why and when is it convenient to use them in the "home" environment?
LEDs, DIY LED , or not, they are now an excellent and valid alternative to the use of incandescent and / or fluorescent bulbs, both in economic and environmental terms. They are electronic devices characterized by monochromatic light emission and very low energy absorption, they disperse little heat unlike incandescent / halogen bulbs with tungsten filament. In addition, theluminous efficiency and the lifespan of these LED lamps is far superior to any other electric lighting system currently on the market. THE DIY LED, are therefore welcome in our homes and Wutlet shows how it is possible to build them even without being specialists.
4) Ecolamp: a way to say DIY LED? What are the advantages?
With "Ecolamp" we mean all those realizations of lamps a DIY LED, self-built by our members or friends. In the dedicated section on the site, we show practical examples of DIY LED,great alternative to commercial LED bulbs. THE DIY LED have undisputed environmental and economic advantages since they are achievable using recycled materials, and designed for an average service life of approx 60 thousand hours of ignition. DIY LEDs are also easily repairable with negligible costs in case of failure.
5) Ledlamp and Ledtube: are they always DIY LEDs? When is it convenient and advantageous to use them?
In the “ledlamp” and “ledtube” sections there are other examples of DIY LED. In particular, there are lamps operating at 220V or 12V similar and with the same functionality as commercial neon fluorescent tubes.
6) From your point of view, how is citizens' awareness of these issues changing?
Compared to when we started there is more attention, more awareness. For the DIY LED and for everything we talk about there is more awareness and information on the positive implications. Those who contact us try to clarify their ideas in the energy field better and find in us a reality linked to lifestyles and practical experiences created by ordinary people, driven solely by the desire to share ideas, projects and ways of sharing online, for free. act as much as possible a low environmental impact. THE DIY LED I'm a great example of this.
7) For those who want to start, perhaps afraid of immediately throwing themselves on DIY LEDs, what do you recommend?
To start your own "Energy mobilization" you can "control your consumption" to keep expenses under control and understand how and where to act to stabilize and decrease our daily consumption needs. Each of us should engage in concrete actions that, together, can initiate real ones global changes. From wherever you want, but it is important to start implementing general rules of verification, control, stabilization and reduction of all consumption. With Wutel we give practical ideas accessible to everyone: everyone can achieve DIY LED. There is no need to do a thousand things, just one but well and with conviction. In fact, the "big numbers" materialize with the many "small" actions. If 1,000 people reduce their daily electricity consumption by only 100Watt, which is easily achievable, we have already saved together 100,000 Watts globally. Not a little! Just think if there are 10,000 people or if instead of 100Watts we save 200 or more ...
